LVPEI celebrates Nurses day |
| On the eve of International Nurse’s day (IND) a grand cultural program was organized at the Patodia Auditorium of the Kallam Anji Reddy Campus. Nurses renewed their oath of service and also participated in various cultural programs. International Nurses Day (IND) is celebrated around the world on 12 May every year, to mark the contributions nurses make to society. The International Council of Nurses (ICN) has been celebrating this day since 1965. In January 1974, 12 May was chosen to celebrate the day as it is the anniversary of the birth of Florence Nightingale, who is widely considered the founder of modern nursing. To summarize the role of nurses, it is worth recalling the words of William Osler who said, “The trained nurse has become one of the great blessings of humanity, taking a place beside the physician and the priest.” |
