5th anniversary of Nellore satellite centre |

The Swarna Bharat Eye Centre at Nellore, LVPEI’s satellite centre, was established on July 1, 2007, with the support of the Swarna Bharat Trust. The centre celebrated its 5th anniversary on July 2, 2012, with enthusiasm. Mr Padmaiah, manager of Swarna Bharat Trust, and some other members of the trust, participated in the event. During the past 5 years the centre has seen around 20,000 outpatients — 75% of them non-paying — and performed around 2300 surgeries, of which 85% were done at no cost. Additionally, 115,000 patients have been screened through various programs by the community eye care (CEC) team during the year 2011-12. |
