Record corneal transplants at LVPEI
The Cornea Services team at L V Prasad Eye Institute crossed its earlier record of 1000 corneal transplants in a single year. The total corneal transplants performed in 2008 through quality corneas provided by the Ramayamma International Eye Bank (RIEB) was 1582.

In addition to 1063 corneal transplants at Kallam Anji Reddy campus, Hyderabad, RIEB provided 99 corneas to Moshin Eye Bank at GMR Varalakshmi campus, LVPEI Visakhapatnam, 27 corneas to drushti daan Eye Bank at LVPEI Bhubaneswar, and 393 to surgeons within and outside Andhra Pradesh (mostly alumni).

Very few institutes in the world have achieved this milestone in the history of eye banking and corneal transplantation!
