Awards and Honours


LVPEI has been honoured with the Global Alliance of Eye Bank Associations (GAEBA)’s Inaugural National Award in recognition of its well-established Eye Bank Network and work done through eye banking towards addressing corneal blindness in the country. The award was presented at the World Eye Bank Symposium. A panel of independent international peers selected L V Prasad Eye Institute for this award from a global pool of candidates for its significant achievements in the promotion of eye banking, openness to collaborate and work done to improve the quality of corneal processing, and thus, patient care in the country. We dedicate this award to our cornea donor families, partner hospitals, and supporters from across the globe who have made this incredible journey possible. We will continue to collaborate and ceaselessly work towards alleviating corneal blindness in India and the world.

Dr Anahita Kate: Awarded the 'Dr G Venkatasamy Gold Medal for DNB Ophthalmology' as the top scorer in DNB exam for year 2019.


Dr Swatishree Sradhanjali: Awarded PhD from the KIIT Deemed to be University, Bhubaneswar, for her thesis topic - The role of MYCN in regulating metabolic reprogramming in Retinoblastoma; Mentor - Dr Mamatha Reddy.

Dr Poonam Naik: Awarded PhD from the Manipal Academy of Higher Education for her work on Multi-Drug Resistance in Endophthalmitis.

Krushna Gopal Panda: Received two ‘Honourable Mentions’ for his pictures - Whorled Pattern Pigmentary Retinal Dystrophy and Cytomegalovirus Retinitis



Vinodh Kumar Uttarvilli: Received 2nd ‘Honourable Mention’ for his picture - Hemorrhagic retinal vasculitis with pre retinal exudates along the vessels


Roselin Xalxo (Vision Technician): Received an appreciation certificate and gold medal from the Odisha Skill Development Authority (OSDA) for her outstanding commitment and performance at the OSDA training program.


Ms Sai Anusha Bandi, Technical Assistant Trainee at the Standard Chartered-LVPEI Academy for Eye Care Education won the Pixoto Rising Star Award for her photograph - Be true, be free, be you.
