The first-ever Archival Workshop for 25 staff members of L V Prasad Eye Institute was conducted by the Milli Archives Foundation on April 15–16, 2025, at LVPEI’s Kallam Anji Reddy Campus, Hyderabad.
The in-person orientation sessions were led by members of the Milli Collective, Bangalore, including Mr Venkat Srinivasan (Co-founder), Mr Ramesh Ulanatil (Former Head, State Bank of India Archives), and Mr Ponnarasu Subramanian (Head, Archives, IIT Madras). Online sessions were presented by Dr Sarah Ghani (Associate Professor, Jindal School of Psychology & Counselling, O.P. Jindal Global University) and Ms Radhika P (Manager, Research & Program, EkStep Foundation, Bangalore). The sessions were supported by Milli resource person, Ms Shilpi Dey.
The workshop was well attended by LVPEI Directors, Administrators, and members of the Senior Leadership Group, who actively engaged with the speakers, asking thoughtful questions and sharing reflections of their LVPEI experiences.
The archives, historically a repository of process and memory, are envisioned at LVPEI as a comprehensive and well-indexed catalogue of institutional records. These will include documents, photographs, videographs, audio recordings, and more — providing valuable material for building a narrative around the processes, decisions, and policies that shape and sustain the Institute’s vision and mission.
The idea of establishing the LVPEI Archives was initiated at Board meetings by Professor Dr Ramakrishna Ramaswamy, Visiting Professor, Department of Chemistry, Indian Institute of Technology, New Delhi, and taken forward by Dr Gullapalli N Rao, Founder-Chair, and Dr Prashant Garg, Executive Chair. The archival initiative will now be led by the core LVPEI Archives team: Mr Tejah Balantrapu (Associate Director – Science, Health Data, and Storytelling), Ms Vijaya Ramam (Management Consultant), Ms Aneetha Kanukolanu (Head – Communications), and Dr Shobha Mocherla (Administrator – Education Academy, LVPEI).
