LVPEI at the Vision 2020: The Right to Sight-INDIA National Conference

LVPEI played a prominent role at the 18th edition of VISION 2020: The Right to Sight-INDIA national conference, titled 'Vision 2020 to 2030: Insights and Path Ahead,' hosted by Christian Medical College and Hospital, Ludhiana, Punjab, from July 5-7, 2024. Eye hospitals nationwide, public health research institutions, and international NGOs dedicated to eye health gathered to share knowledge and best practices in community ophthalmology.

Senior leadership from LVPEI, including Dr Taraprasad Das, Dr G Chandrasekhar, and Dr Rohit Khanna, delivered special addresses and keynotes highlighting the future vision and strategic plan to combat avoidable blindness. In addition, many senior faculty members, including Dr Padmaja Kumari Rani, Dr Varsha Rathi, Dr Subhadra Jalali, Dr Deepak Bagga, and Dr Debasmita Majhi, conducted insightful sessions and presentations on topics including refractive errors, diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, retinopathy of prematurity, community eye care, patient centred eye care, good eye care practices, and innovations for the visually impaired.

Emerging young heroes from LVPEI were awarded for their contributions to furthering the cause of community eye health:
      -  Mr Shekhar Konegari (Vision Technician, Bhosle Gopal Rao Patil Eye Centre), received the Young Achiever Award.
      -  Mr Sandeep Dayal, Administrator at Bhosle Gopal Rao Patil Eye Centre, received the Eye Health Champion Award.
