LVPEI, through a partnership model, is working towards establishing Eye Banks in India, where they are needed the most. One such Eye Banking facility, with technical support from LVPEI and operational support from the TATA Trust and The HANS Foundation, has commenced its services at the Regional Institute of Ophthalmology, Institute of Medical Sciences, Banaras Hindu University at Varanasi. It is the first-of-its-kind facility in a government institute in Varanasi and aims at achieving zero waiting time for corneal transplant surgeries in this region.
