The LVPEI-BostonSight Lens Manufacturing Lab, established in partnership with BostonSight, USA, celebrated its seventh anniversary on September 13, 2024. This partnership has grown from strength to strength in realising their dream of providing accessible and affordable scleral lenses for patients in India.
Scleral lenses are speciality lenses that rest on the sclera – the white part of the eye – and offer life-changing benefits to those suffering from keratoconus, dry eyes, and other corneal conditions.
This lab is ‘ISO-13485’ certified and has produced over 18,600 lenses, supporting 130 practices in India, 4 in Bangladesh, and 2 in Hong Kong. Over 25% of these lenses were provided free to non-paying patients within the LVPEI network, upholding LVPEI's commitment to ensuring no patient is denied proper treatment due to lack of funds.
