Tapas Ranjan Padhi, a gold medalist in MS Ophthalmology from JIPMER, Pondhicherry, completed a two-year fellowship in the retina from Sankara Nethralaya, Chennai; followed by a research fellowship in the pediatric retina, electrophysiology and retinal dystrophy from University of Michigan, USA. He received the ARVO collaborative research fellowship award for 2014-15 and was a visiting scholar at Associated Retina Consultants, Royal Oak, the USA, in the pediatric retina. Tapas has to his credit more than 73 papers in peer-reviewed journals and has served as principal and co-investigator in many multicentric randomized clinical trials. In 2015 he was honoured with the prestigious Biswambar Rajguru Oration award by the Odisha State Ophthalmological Society. His core areas of interest are Retinopathy of Prematurity and advanced vitreoretinal surgeries. He has been awarded the prestigious JM Pahwa award by the Vitreoretinal Society of India (2018) and the Col. Rangachari Award by the All India Ophthalmic Society, India (2021) for his work related to Retinopathy of Prematurity. Dr Padhi also heads the Electrophysiology Services across the LVPEI network and has been actively involved in research related to pediatric retina, electrophysiology and retinal dystrophies.
