Inderjeet Kaur
Designation: Scientist, Kallam Anji Reddy Molecular Genetics Laboratory Email: inderjeet@lvpei.org Location: Kallam Anji Reddy Campus, Hyderabad
Inderjeet Kaur obtained her Master's in forensic science from Punjabi University, before doing her doctoral studies in molecular human genetics at Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU) in Amritsar. She served as a lecturer at GNDU before joining LVPEI to continue research on molecular genetics, with a focus on the genetics of eye disease. Her main thrust is on understanding the molecular mechanisms in complex eye diseases, age-related macular degeneration (AMD), myopia and glaucoma. Her work has been published in peer-reviewed international journals and she has generated funds through extramural research grants from government funding agencies, such as the Department of Biotechnology and Department of Science and Technology. Her research on AMD and myopia has been hailed widely as pioneering work in the field from India. She received the Young Investigator (Merit) Award (Basic Sciences) from the Association on Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO) at the SERI-ARVO 2007 meeting, Singapore, and the Amjad Rahi Prize (Indian Eye Research Group, Hyderabad, 2005). She is also the recipient of the B M Birla Science Medal, 2011.
