Sachin Shukla received his PhD in Biochemistry from the Department of Zoology, Banaras Hindu University (BHU), Varanasi, India, in the year 2013. His doctoral findings addressed important aspects of structure, function, and mechanism of action of PAX6, a protein known as the master regulator of eye development. Thereafter, he joined L V Prasad Eye Institute, Hyderabad, India as a postdoctoral research associate. Shortly, he received the DST-INSPIRE Faculty award by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India and worked on corneal repair, regeneration, and immunomodulation using adult mesenchymal stem cells (MSC) and limbal stem cells. He completed his postdoctoral training at the Harvard Medical School, Boston, USA (Schepens Eye Research Institute, Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary (MEEI), where he worked on mesenchymal stem cell-based corneal repair and ocular immunology. His research findings have been published in renowned journals of international repute and won awards at different national and international forums.
