Glaucoma affects over 80 million people worldwide and is one of the leading causes of irreversible blindness in India. It is a complex set of conditions that causes vision loss and requires lifelong care. LVPEI is one of the foremost centres of glaucoma care in the world and we gratefully acknowledge support of Mr Kalathur Venugopal Reddy’s family. In 2021-22, their philanthropy supported the Kalathur Venugopal Reddy Glaucoma Centre at Kode Venkatadri Chowdary Campus, Vijayawada, and the VST Centre for Glaucoma Care at the Kallam Anji Reddy campus, Hyderabad.
'There are many among us who may have glaucoma, but live undiagnosed as the condition is asymptomatic until end stages. This is a terrible situation as vision lost to glaucoma is irreversible, and the treatment can be expensive,” notes Mr Venugopal’s family. “Glaucoma is a devastating impairment and we fully support LVPEI’s efforts to create awareness, and for early diagnosis and treatment of this condition.'
