Ocular oncology, or eye cancer, is a cancer that forms in tissues in and around the eye. Eye cancer can occur in the newborn, in children and in adults. Given the rarity of eye tumors and complexity of tumor management, there are very few centers in the world dealing exclusively with eye tumors. Thus there is a need to have an exclusive Institute for Eye Cancer with focus on patient care, rehabilitation, education, research, and innovation. Hence L V Prasad Eye Institute and Operation Eyesight Universal joined hands in September 2015 to inaugurate the first of its kind “The Operation Eyesight Universal Institute for Eye Cancer” at Kallam Anji Reddy campus, LVPEI, Hyderabad, India offering the entire value chain of services for eye cancer under one roof. State-of-the-art services are provided at the centre of excellence and at all tertiary centres of the institute including Hyderabad, Bhubaneswar, Visakhapatnam, and Vijayawada. True to the principles of the Institute, we continue to provide free compassionate care to over 50% patients coming from the underprivileged group.
The aims of the Operation Eye Sight Universal institute for Eye cancer are
