Manju Bhate completed her post-graduation in Ophthalmology from Pune. This was followed by advanced training in Comprehensive Ophthalmology from Sydney, a long-term fellowship in Paediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus from the Children’s Hospital Westmead in Sydney, Australia, and a short-term training from Akron Children’s Hospital in the USA. Dr Bhate brings along a vast and varied experience of working in different hospitals and health care centres like John Hunter & Children’s Hospital, New South Wales as a Consultant Paediatric Ophthalmologist and Strabismologist, and later, as part of a voluntary project, she was actively involved in setting-up paediatric eye care service at Myanmar in South East Asia. Keenly interested in teaching, she also trained local Ophthalmologists there.
Dr Manju Bhate is a member of several prestigious Ophthalmological societies and bodies like Australia and New Zealand Pediatric and Strabismus Society, Asia-Pacific Strabismus and Pediatric Ophthalmology Society, World Society of Paediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus, and the All India Ophthalmic Society. She has presented widely at various national and international conferences and has published several publications in peer-reviewed journals. Currently, she serves as a reviewer for many journals, including the Indian Journal of Ophthalmology, Seminars in Ophthalmology, Asia-Pacific Journal of Ophthalmology and Current Eye Research. Her main areas of interest are Paediatric Cataract, Complex Strabismus, Genetic Eye Diseases, Paediatric Neuro-ophthalmology and Retinopathy of Prematurity.
