Dr Mariya

Dr Mariya Doctor is a consultant ophthalmologist in the Cornea and Anterior Segment Services at the LV Prasad Eye Institute, GMRV campus, Visakhapatnam. She has done her post-graduation in Ophthalmology, followed by fellowship in Cornea and Anterior segment services, both from L V Prasad Eye Institute, Hyderabad. She has a strong inclination towards academics and research. She has around 18 indexed publications so far, and multiple presentations at national and international level. She has received multiple awards at the State, National and International levels, some of which include the Prof. Krothapalli Ravindranath LVPEI Research Excellence Award 2022; the International Hero award by All India Ophthalmological Society in 2023; and the APAO Travel grant by Malaysian society of Ophthalmology in 2023.

Her areas of clinical interest are corneal diseases, cataract, refractive, corneal infections, with special interest in ocular surface diseases like chemical burns (LCSD), and immunological diseases (Steven Johnsons syndrome, Ocular cicatricial pemphigoid). Surgically she has expertise in Cataract, pterygium, Corneal transplantation (PK, DSAEK, DMEK, DALK), corneal trauma, ocular surface procedures, limbal epithelial stem cell transplantation (SLET), and laser refractive surgeries.
