Dr Neelima Balakrishnan completed her MBBS at the Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER), Puducherry, and obtained her MD in Ophthalmology from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi. She then pursued a fellowship in Cornea and Refractive Surgery at Sankara Eye Hospital, Coimbatore.
Dr Balakrishnan has multiple indexed publications to her credit and has presented her work at various national and international conferences. In 2024, she received the AIOS International Travel Fellowship to present her research at the Asia-Pacific Association of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (APACRS) 2024 conference in China, where she was also awarded the Best Paper of Session in the Cornea category.
Her areas of interest include keratoconus, lamellar corneal surgeries, and ocular infections. Beyond academics, she is an avid reader and a trained singer.
