Dr Sirisha Senthil is a distinguished Ophthalmologist with over 22 years of experience in the field of Glaucoma. Holding an MS in Ophthalmology from Aravind Eye Hospital, Madurai, she received a Fellowship of the Royal Colleges of Surgeons (FRCS) in Ophthalmology from Edinburgh.
Her association with L V Prasad Eye Institute (LVPEI) began in 2007 when she joined as a faculty member. Over the years, she has ascended to Head of Glaucoma Service, a role she has held since 2012. Specializing in managing refractory adult and pediatric glaucoma, Dr Senthil has cultivated a profound interest in glaucoma drainage implants, secondary glaucoma, and the genetics of inherited childhood glaucoma. Her commitment to advancing knowledge in the field is evident through her extensive research endeavours. She has published over 179 scientific papers in esteemed peer-reviewed journals and authored numerous enlightening book chapters.
Dr Senthil's contributions have earned her several accolades and awards nationally and internationally. Among her notable achievements are the Dr Vengal Rao Medal in 2012, the Indian Journal of Ophthalmology (IJO) Silver Award in 2016, and the prestigious American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) Achievement Award in 2018.
A dedicated investigator for various studies, Dr Senthil's expertise extends beyond academia. She is a frequent presenter at global conferences, where her insights and findings continue to enrich the Ophthalmological community.
