Dr Vineet P Joshi

Vineet Joshi is an alumnus of Krishna Institute of Medical Sciences, Pune. He did his internship at the Dr D. Y. Patil Medical College, Pune and his residency in Ophthalmology at the Sankara Eye Hospital, Coimbatore. Vineet then pursued a one-year clinical–lab research fellowship at the Post Graduate Institute of Chandigarh in the Department of Pharmacology and later a two-year fellowship in Cornea and Anterior segment at LVPEI, Hyderabad. Following this, he joined the institute as a Consultant - Cornea & Anterior Segment Services and Centre for Technology and Innovation. Vineet is a member of the All India Ophthalmological Society.

Dr Joshi has won awards for paper and video presentations (scientific and surgical) at national and international forums and has several publications in peer-reviewed international journals.

His main areas of interest include Lamellar corneal surgeries (DMEK/ DALK/ DSAEK), Corneal transplants, Cataract surgeries with premium intraocular lens implantations, Keratoconus, Laser Refractive surgeries, Ocular surface procedures and Artificial corneal transplantation (Keratoprosthesis) and Corneal trauma and infections. Vineet takes a keen interest in training and mentoring.

Dr Joshi is also the Clinical Lead for LVPEI's Centre for Technology and Innovation and works with engineers and designers to develop newer devices and technologies. His passion for corneal surgeries and bioengineering has led him to pursue a PhD in Biomedical Engineering with a focus on Biofabrication and 3D Bioprinting of Cornea from the Indian Institute of Technology(IIT) Hyderabad. He is also pursuing research in augmenting smartphone-based teleconsultation and applying Artificial Intelligence to predict outcomes of corneal disorders.

Vineet is known for his soft-spoken nature and positive attitude towards his patients and colleagues. He loves playing the guitar and touring on his motorcycle.
